Don’t believe everything you read, Cats fans 🐈‍⬛

For those who haven’t yet caught up, we’d like to well and truly put to bed the rumour that Geelong great Tom Hawkins would be pulling on a guernsey for us this weekend.

A story posted earlier this week by a certain page stating Tom would be playing at Coonalpyn was categorically false. The responsible thing for the page involved would have been to delete the post entirely when it was quickly pointed out that what was posted was not only untrue but also logistically impossible. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.

You’ll still find our very own former AFL stars in Menz, Brodie Martin and Matthew Dent at the game on Saturday, just no Tomahawk.

We look forward to seeing you at Coonalpyn on Saturday for a great day of footy and netball matches against Imperials, followed by Cats Quiz Night in the evening.

As always, you’ll find all the latest (and accurate) news from the club right here on our channels.

This weekend, we’re at Tintinara to take on Tail This weekend, we’re at Tintinara to take on Tailem Bend in our annual Indigenous Round clash.

This has long been an important day on the Meningie and now Kurangk calendar as it gives us the chance to honour the contributions of all the First Nations players who have played in the RMFL and RMNA.

For us at Kurangk, the day is a celebration of the contribution our Indigenous families have made to make the Cats what we are today.

There will be a combined football and netball Welcome to Country prior to the League game on Saturday, local legend Derek Gollan will toss the coin and a Wilson-Hartman Medal will be presented to the player judged best afield in both the Reserves and League matches.

The medal is named after Roger Wilson and Noel Hartman. Both Roger and Noel have been wonderful contributors to both clubs. Roger is a Premiership Player for both Meningie and Tailem and won the Mail Medal whilst representing Tailem Bend. Noel is a Premiership Player, played 200 games, is a Best & Fairest winner and won the Mail Medal all whilst representing Tailem Bend.

In addition, our senior footballers and netballers will wear the stunning guernseys and bibs they have the last couple of years designed by Harley from Aboriginal Art Designs/Ngrakani Dreaming (@harley.ngrakani.dreaming).

We hope you can all join us at Tintinara for this special day on Saturday.
